NikonD90Check out this camera, it’s a Nikon D90 digital SLR and it is Sam’s Club’s “Special Buy of the Day”. They have a limited quantity available for $1,090. Now – $1K isn’t what you would call “cheap”, but that doesn’t mean that someone who is in the market for a high-end camera shouldn’t be able to save a few dollars on one. If you look around online you’ll find that some places are selling this same camera + lens for about $1,149 (and in some cases $1,299) – so Sam’s is offering what amounts to a savings of $60 to $209.

We actually need a new camera and I’d love to get something like this – but realistically, that’s not going to happen right now, but if any of you do manage to buy one of these, I’d just like you to know that I’m quite jealous and I’ll be certain to feel inadequate whenever I use whatever inferior camera that we end up purchasing.

I’ll add a list of all the vital stats below, but here are a few things you might want to check out before buying any camera:

First, you should always check out the reviews for whatever camera you are looking at on the site: dpreview.com. This is probably the best site out there for comprehensive reviews of pretty much any camera on the market. Here is the review page for this camera: www.dpreview.com/reviews/NikonD90/

Secondly, Flickr has a cool feature that lets you explore the photo database based on the model of the camera that took the pictures. You can see the Flickr page dedicated to the D90 here: www.flickr.com/cameras/nikon/d90/

  • Giveaway!
We have a few more $50 Sam’s Club gift-cards to giveaway, so here we go with another contest. To enter, you must leave a comment on this post and since this is a “camera” related post, you’ll have to leave a “camera” related comment. So in your comment you have to mention the following: either the type of camera you use right now, or – you can look at the selection of cameras on the Sam’s Club website and mention which camera or camcorder you would buy.

    Official Rules:
    1. You must already be, or become a subscriber to this site in order to participate in this contest.
    2.  To enter, leave a comment on this post and mention one of the following: either the type of camera you use right now, or – you can look at the selection of cameras on the Sam’s Club website and mention which camera or camcorder you would buy. You need to include this information in order for your entry to count. If you just say something like “I want to enter.”  I’ll delete your comment.
    3. One winner will receive $50 worth of Sam’s Club gift cards.
    4. The winner will be selected using random.org, based on the number of your comment.
    6. This contest will end at 10pm on Wednesday, December 23, 2009.
    7. Winners will be notified by email and posted to this site. Winners will have 48 hours from the time of notification to claim their prize. If the prize is not claimed within that time, another winner will be chosen.

    8. Each comment represents a single entry. Those entitled to multiple entries for performing “extra credit” must add a comment for each entry.

    Extra Credit:
    1. Follow me using the Google Friend Connect widget – 1 extra entry
    2. Follow on Twitter and Tweet about this contest – 1 extra entry per day (include link to Tweet in your comment)
    3. Blog about this contest – 3 extra entries (include a link to the post in your comment)

    4. Post a comment on any of the other posts on this site (from the past month) – 1 extra entry per post (leave post name and comment #)

    5. Visit the Sam’s Club “Holiday Helper” page and leave a comment on any of the posts. Include a link to this post in your comment. – 2 extra entries for each Holiday Helper post that you comment on (you can do this for any number of the posts on that website but only one comment for each post counts. You can’t just go and add 5 comments to one post and then claim 10 entries, but if you post a comment on five separate posts you can get 10 entries).

(remember, you have to leave a comment for EACH ENTRY when you do extra credit. We pick winners based on a drawing using the comment number. If you put 5 entries into a single comment, you defeat the whole purpose of the extra credit, since you aren’t increasing your chances of winning. No, I am not going to go through each entry and make sure that you’ve entered correctly, that is up to you.)
